Col. Carlson, Tom Hermanek and 15 other Raiders show captured equipment for movie & still photographers after their 30 some days behind enemy lines on Guadalcanal. Carlson is (obviously) 2nd from left, first row; Tom Hermanek is the blonde Raider in the back row, directly in line with (and above) the 'meatball' flag. / Guadalcanal / December, 1942


Recuperation in Blenheim, South Island, New Zealand Ira Lind and Bob Hajic (left to right). Feb., 1943. In a Feb. 28, 1943 letter Bob wrote: "After coming back from Guadalcanal we took a short trip to New Zealand ..sort of a health cruise. Lind and I met a fellow who invited us to his home in Blenheim. Sort of out in the country. We had a swell rest and plenty of good food. They treated us swell...."
