Hermanek and 15 other Raiders show captured equipment

their 30 some days behind enemy lines
on Guadalcanal. Carlson is
(obviously) 2nd from left, first row; Tom Hermanek is the
blonde Raider in the back row, directly in
line with (and above) the 'meatball'

Blenheim, South Island, New Zealand
Ira Lind
and Bob Hajic (left to right). Feb., 1943. In a Feb. 28,
1943 letter Bob wrote: "After coming back from
Guadalcanal we took a short trip to New Zealand ..sort of
a health cruise. Lind and I met a fellow who invited us to
his home in Blenheim. Sort of out in the country. We had a
swell rest and plenty of good food. They treated us
swell...." |
