Cal. Boys Anti Tank Gun AKA Elephant Gun

After Makin Island
the Raiders were rewarded with a weeks stay at the Royal
Hawaiian Hotel on Waikiki Beach. The liberty pass is signed by B
Company Commander Captain Ralph Coyte.
2nd Marine Raider Battalion moved to Guadalcanal and
was deployed a month outside the American parameter. Known as “The
Long Patrol” Carlson and his men infiltrated enemy lines to conduct
guerilla warfare. Their rations, brought in by native porters,
consisted of raisins, tea, bacon, sugar, rice, rice and more rice.
Most of the rice was captured from the Japanese.
