Salute!!! what a great site. I'm the CO of a team that plays Nova Logic's Delta
Force. We have adopted the name of the 1st Raider Battalion for our team. The
reason for this is sort of a compromise as well as our belief in honoring our
nations heros. The ajority of our team are veterans, so we are very motivated
when it comes to these types of things. I've linked your site to ours as a
"historical" check for the kids who frequent our site and are not
aware the history behind our name. I hope that's ok. Al o I'd like to offer
Raider Dan the position of honorary CO of our team. This wouldnt involve any
commitment on his behalf, just an Honor on our part. Also it sounds like you're
a gamer as well Louie. Have you played DF yet?-

I don't think about him! He was a great dad and proud of his time in the

Greetings and commendations. My father, Lew Cox, served as a Raider early in his
32 years as a Marine. I grew up in the Corps, surrounded by many of the names
mentioned on these pages, going to school with their kids, and not understanding
or appreciati g the significance. By the time I enlisted in the Corps (65), no
one in my circle of Marines spoke of the Raiders or knew of them. I would like
to know with which of the Raiders my dad served. I have a picture of him falling
in a parachute, static line still attached and canopy undeployed, taken, I
believe, in Lakehurst, NJ, 1939. Can anyone out there add any information? Thank
you, Dan, for keeping this moment in history and the names of these men alive in

referred to him, was a hero and family legend. He joined "The Corps"
in 1932 (?) I think...and was "All Marine". He was a member of the
"Old Breed" and although I never had the honor of serving with him...I
did serve under some l ke him. I joined the Corps in 1962 and after PI, I was
assigned to C/1/6 at Camp Lejeune...I was a grunt! I had the "high

Thank you for sharing you account of the actions of the Raiders during WW II. My
father, Bill "doc" Sell was in the 1st Marine div. (George Co.) and
doesn't like to discuss the war. This has given me some insight to what he had
to endure. Thank you again and to all the veterans who have sacrificed to ensure
our freedom.

My Brother William (Bill) H. Stofiel, has landed in a VA nursing center here in
Vancouver,WA he served in the 6th Marine Division and as his time on this earth
is very quickly passing by I have been in contact with the Association trying to
find his "Brot ers" that he shed blood with. He was with the 22nd
Regiment and served our Corps from 18Nov1940 - 23 Oct1945. He was my mentor for
the Corp, his example as a Marine insured that I would be one... and i was,
retired from our beloved Corps in 1979. I hav enjoyed your pages and likely will
continue to do so. If you or any of those in contact with you know my brother or
you just want him to know you care, you can drop him a line to Bill Stofiel, %
John Stofiel, 6204 Kansas Street, Vancouver, WA 98661-6924 if you e-mail your
message i will share with him as we are currently having max quality time
together. Thanks for being here! I joined your reunion here in Portland along
with our Marine Corps League Detachment Commandant George Pobi and really
enjoyed being around some truly "larger-than-life" Marines Semper Fi

My father was in the Raiders. I was looking for what info that I could find out.
He is now 75 years old and has a grandson who is just now getting old enough to
be curious as to what his grandfather background is. It is sometimes hard to
find info on Carl on's Raiders. I guess because of Col. Carlson's background.
