The
Chicago Reunion, 2000 The reunion
in Chicago was different for us for several reasons. Mainly because
Dad (Raider Dan) was sick and couldn't make the trip, and Mom stayed
home to help take care of him.
So I, the intrepid son and honorary member of
the United States Marine Raider Association, hopped a flight and took
off the for the Windy City.
After surviving O'Hare (surprisingly easy to
navigate by the way) I made it to the hotel and was greeted very warmly
by many of Dad's old comrades. The pictures below show the fine turn
out that Company D, 4th Raiders had this year, and I'd like to thank
all of them for making me feel right at home!

Bama (daughter to his left), Moe and others.

DAY TWO:
I awoke to the first full day of the reunion.
Met more great people, and had a lot of fun as well.
Especially meaningful was getting to meet
Nancy Kilgore and her Mother, and also meeting Karen Loving - grand
daughter of Evans Carlson, commander of the 2nd Raiders.
We had "met" previous to this
through this page, and I was happy to see we had helped them get the
information needed to attend this reunion!

Something new this year, each Battalion had it's
own flag.

L-R - Karen Loving, Barbara and Nancy Kilgore.

A happy member of the 4th Battalion leads the
way!
