Minneapolis Reunion, 2008
Day, Two
The big event on day two of the reunion was the
Annual Memorial Service held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery here in
Minneapolis. It was held outdoors and the weather was great, except for
the wind which was a little gusty.
I was both surprised and happy to see that Dad's
name was in the Honor Roll, and was very pleased at how many of his
friends and comrades spoke so highly of him to me.

Jack and George showing up for the service.

The backdrop for the service.

From L-R, Mel Heckt, Ken O'Donnell, John E. Dornan

From L-R: Louie, Rabbi Alan Shavit-Lonstein, Father
James H. Himmelsbach

it by clicking here!

John Dornan reading the names of the Raiders who died
this year. He provided the most moving moment of the service for me,
when he read Dad's name, and then said, "He was a friend to us all."
