Makin Photos!
Page Three Our good friend, Joe Woodford, has sent us some
great photo's of the Makin Raiders. They are all National Archive
photos in the public domain - enjoy!

Marine Raiders exercise on the deck of USS Nautilus (SS-168)
while they were en route to raid Makin, in the Gilbert Islands, on 11
August 1942. Pvt. Joseph Woodford, in the foreground, on the deck
doing pushups. A 6"/53 gun and an ammunition hoist are in the
center of the image.
