Dear
Raiders and friends,
Thought you might be interested...
On my most recent trip to China in August, I spent some time with
military historian and US Embassy Minister-Counselor for Press and
Cultural Affairs, Donald M. Bishop. At a luncheon given by the Chinese
Peoples Institute for Foreign Studies I presented a copy of the Furman
Magazine article about my grandfather to Chairman Mao's granddaughter
(she looks just like her Grandfather). Don Bishop expressed an interest
in the article so I gave him a copy as well. Don submitted the article
to the Embassy Public Affairs office. It is now posted on the Embassy
web site. It means a lot to me to see my grandfather's story told at
the Embassy he served so many years ago. Many thanks to writer Debbie
Moore, and Vince Moore and all the folks at the Furman University Office
of Public Affairs!
